Dallas police on Tuesday evening arrested a man outside of AG Ken Paxton’s election night event hosted at the Marriott Dallas Uptown.
According to The New York Times, a masked man wearing sunglasses was taken into custody by Dallas police after a search of the man’s unlicensed Blue Sedan resulted in officers finding several rounds of ammunition.
According to hotel workers, the man entered the Marriott and told the staff he was an Uber driver.
However, the staffers became suspicious of the man’s story after noticing his car outside the hotel had no license plate.

The New York Times broke the story:
Dallas police officers took a man into custody outside of a hotel where the state’s attorney general, Ken Paxton, was set to hold his election night watch party on Tuesday. It was not immediately clear whether the detention was related to the event.
The officers pulled what appeared to be ammunition for several types of weapons from a blue sedan that hotel workers said the man had been driving. He was wearing a camouflage face mask, sunglasses, a hat and gloves as he stood outside the Marriott Dallas Uptown shortly before 6 p.m. Central time.
A member of Mr. Paxton’s campaign said that he had seen the man enter the hotel and asked to use the restroom. The staff member said he had spoken with the man briefly.
The staff member, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the unfolding police investigation, said the man told him he was an Uber driver, but the staff member doubted that story, observing that the car he was driving appeared to have no plates.
The police officers searching the car appeared to also take a license plate from inside the vehicle. They declined to say what the man was being detained for, and it was not immediately clear if he had been armed when he entered the hotel.

NBC reported the man has been arrested on driving violations and was taken into police headquarters for further questioning:
The man, who has not been identified, was seen on video and photographs wearing a black turtleneck shirt, dark sweatpants, sunglasses, headphones, camouflage gloves, a hat, and a gaiter-style face covering. He was also seen carrying a green-colored shoulder bag.
Dallas Police confirmed the man was arrested for a traffic violation and that ammunition was found.
The man was then taken to Dallas Police Headquarters for “further investigation.”
