Berehk Stornbröw is the premier Big Guy-killer in the Leagues of Votann, as proved by his new datasheet – Warhammer Community

We’ve been talking a lot lately about space pirates – what with The Maelstrom: Lair of the Tyrant coming out and Huron Blackheart launching yet another raid – and as much as we love to root for their free-spirited hijinks, there are some who lost patience with the galaxy’s raiders and reavers long ago. Can’t blame them, really.

Berehk Stornbröw is one such chap, and when it comes to Ork Freebooterz, he’s a certified Grade-A hater.* The rough and ready champion of the Cthonian Beserks has battled their marauding kind hundreds of times, and with all that experience it’s no wonder he’s an absolute monster on the battlefield.

What Stornbröw lacks in stature he makes up for in raw strength and durability, as his unique cloneskein blessed his skin with a craggy layer hard enough to turn aside blades and bullets. It’s a handy party trick, given how lightly armoured the Kin of the Cthonian mining guilds are – a seriously impressive Feel No Pain 4+ makes sure he’ll survive a good few fights with enemy champions.

His unique weapon – Kromlôk’s Revenge – combines Votann plasma blade and mass driver technologies, giving Berehk the option of scything groups of lesser foes down or smashing bigger beasties to a pulp. The graviton strikes mode is especially gnarly and can punch gaping holes in battle tanks!

… Yes, well spotted, he can punch people with his Warforge Gauntlets at the same time. He’s got two hands, what else is he going to do with the other?

Unlike the Twin Lance pair that we had a look at on Monday, Berehk can join a unit and inspires them to fight all the harder in his presence. Giving Cthonian Beserks the [Sustained Hits 1] ability leads to some pretty epic carnage, and since their concussion mauls also pack the [Anti-Monster 3+] and [Anti-Vehicle 3+] rules, Big Guys really hate to see them working together.

If you’d prefer to keep them back as the mother of all deterrents, that’s fine too, as their ability to launch Heroic Intervention for free will make anyone possessed of two brain cells think twice before trying to pick off some of their nearby comrades. Just make sure you have a Sagitaur nearby to ferry him up the board when it’s time to crack skulls – such awesome killing potential shouldn’t be wasted.

Who do you rate better in a fight, Berehk Stornbröw or the Twin Lance? We can’t forget that there’s still a new Tyranid Prime yet to join the scrum, so come back later this week to see how they stack up against the rest of our newcomers.

* He lost his original arms in a duel with a Kaptin, who has since earned his everlasting ire.
