Feb. 2 (UPI) — A South Carolina man stopped at a convenience store to satisfy his craving for a bag of pretzels and ended up winning a $200,000 lottery prize.

The Upstate man told South Carolina Education Lottery officials a hankering for salty snacks led to his stopping at the Sunoco Food Mart on Northeast Main Street in Simpsonville for a bag of pretzels.

While in the store, he decided to buy a pair of $5 Holly Jolly Jackpot tickets — and one of them turned out to be a $200,000 winner.

“I was going to wait until the next day to cash it in,” he said. “But I couldn’t. I went on to Columbia.”

The winner said he is using some of his winnings to pay off his car.

“It was a wonderful day,” he said.
