US: GameStop offering 20% bonus if you trade in Nintendo Switch because you have Switch 2 – My Nintendo News

Prominent North American video game chain GameStop has announced a twenty percent trade in bonus for a Nintendo Switch console if you have replaced it with a Nintendo Switch 2. This offer, which seems pretty good, ignores who you bought the Nintendo Switch 2 from. All you need to do is show the customer service representative the receipt stating you have purchased the shiny new console. You will need to go to your local GameStop to find out how much they are willing to give you for your Nintendo Switch.

Thanks to SonicGalaxy27 for sending us the news tip!

  1. “Obsolete” is a bit of a stretch, personally we don’t plan on selling our first Switch until all our games are fully Switch 2 compatible.

    1. Yes, I’ve removed the word “redundant” I think that’s what you mean. I have no plans to trade mine in either! 😃

      1. I have no plans on getting rid of mine. I’m basically keeping mine in my very own home. I love my original Switch!

    2. Gamestop, I like your switch 2 20% off switch 2 nice.

  2. I prefer to keep my old consoles so I wont be trading mine in, I still have my original NES.

    1. I’m a collector and selling is not in my collection DNA and RNA.

  3. I doubt they want mine. It was a launch Switch and the battery is just starting to expand, the back panel is being held by tape, and the left joycon constantly “detaches” while it’s still attached to the Switch… which also causes drift in some games.

    1. Might wanna check on that before it explodes. 🤔

      1. It’s not like that. It seems like it’s just starting to. I can’t actually feel a bulge but it just seems like maybe the back panel is a little uneven on that side. Let’s say I’m just anticipating it to start bulging in the near future.
