Relive the Samurai’s Destiny
- by Liam Croft
Capcom has revealed it’s releasing a remaster of PS2 classic Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny later this year for PS4. As it prepares for new mainline game Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the firm is returning to its remastering efforts, which it began six years ago with an updated Onimusha: Warlords release.
As the footage in the trailer above shares, this looks to be a fairly simple remaster project that simply brings back the original game in that same form with better visuals. It’s releasing for PS4 later on in 2025, and will be available to play on PS5 via backwards compatibility.
Released for the PS2 in 2002, the follow-up introduced a new protagonist and expanded on the original’s gameplay with extra mechanics and features. Will you check out Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny for the first time via this PS4 remaster, or are you a returning veteran? Let us know in the comments below.
Liam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he’s found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.
