June 8 (UPI) — An Ohio man said he had to go dumpster diving when he realized he had accidentally thrown away a scratch-off lottery ticket that turned out to be worth $100,000.

The Willard resident told Ohio Lottery officials he went into a panic when he realized the Bingo 25 Times 25 ticket be bought from the Circle K on Walton Street in Willard had accidentally wound up in the trash.

The man said he had to go dumpster diving to retrieve the ticket.

It turned out to be extremely lucky that he realized his mistake before the trash was collected, because the ticket turned out to be a $100,000 winner.

The man was able to claim his prize and took home $73,250 after required tax withholdings.
