The James Bond IP has a long history in video games, with some real highlights along the way (with Goldeneye still the standout for many over the years). The next game to step up and try to make itself part of that legacy is 007 First Light, a new narrative action-adventure game developed and published by Hitman studio IO Interactive.
What we’ve seen of the game so far undoubtedly looks pretty good so far, but the proverbial proof in the pudding will ultimately come down to what it feels like to play, and for that we have to wait until May 27. That said, if you are planning to play the game on launch, there’s an item you can pick up ahead of time, and it’s pretty iconic if you’re a fan of the recent movies.
As first reported by GAMINGbible, IO Interactive is running a bit of cross-promotion for First Light in their other games right now. As part of that, legendary Casino Royale villain Le Chiffre (played by Mads Mikkelsen) is currently appearing in Hitman: World of Assassination.
Mikkelsen returns to the role in a campaign where he faces off against the equally-legendary Agent 47, played by you. Le Chiffre serves as a special Celebrity Elusive Target, where he is appropriately hosting/playing in a high-stakes poker game at the Casino Monarchique in Paris.
If you can infiltrate the game and take him out, you’ll receive the ‘Casino Suit’ for 007 First Light, an exclusive DLC reward. You’ll recognize it as the all-black tux that he wears in the film. The only unfortunate caveat is that if you haven’t done it yet, you are a little late to the party, as there are only 24 hours left to kill him off and claim your prize.
At the same time, if you have already bought First Light, you can also claim the ‘Timeless Tuxedo Suit’ in HITMAN World of Assassination, so you should be able to look pretty classy across both titles. There are also several themed packs available for purchase with your hard-earned money, if you’re a real fan of either franchise.
As mentioned earlier, you don’t have too long to wait to get playing in First Light, with the title set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X on May 27. Until then, bide your time and wait in the shadows, just as every spy other than James Bond would.
